watchdog timer on cDAQ-9189

I am trying to implement the watchdog timer on the cDAQ-9189 firmware # 17-1-0f5 with LabView 15 version 15.0f2.  I want to turn off all DO on a NI-9482 relay card.  I followed the example here: https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/supplemental/13/how-to-use-and-implement-the-watchdog-timer-with-ni-daqmx.html

It works fine in my example WDT1.vi but when I try to add a read from another module the watchdog timer will lock the cDAQ-9189 and it cannot read or write to any modules but it will not change the states of the DO module

Any help on this would be appreciated
